For His Glory

The devotional this week came from Romans chapter 12. I'm sure that I have read from Romans 12 countless times during chapter throughout my time as chaplain, but I believe that it is one of the best passages to begin each semester. The passage reads,

"Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship...Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing, and perfect will...We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully."

As you read this, be reminded to not compare yourself to others around you. We were each intentionally made to be different. College is a time of insecurity and a desire to be accepted by others around us, but constantly remind yourself that college is also a time to share the gifts that God has given us.  We were not made to "conform to this world," but we were made to live in accordance with God's will. Everything we do is by the grace of God and ALL for his glory!
